The Challenge

Monikie Memorial Hall has been at the heart of village life for almost a century, but its website no longer reflected the quality, character or versatility of the venue itself. Built on an ageing platform, the site was difficult to update, frustrating to use on mobile devices, and failed to showcase everything the Hall had to offer. For prospective wedding couples, community groups and event organisers, the website created unnecessary friction rather than inspiring confidence. At a time when flexible, affordable venues are increasingly attractive, the Hall needed a stronger digital presence to compete for higher-value bookings while continuing to serve its wider community. The objective wasn’t simply to redesign a website. It was to transform the Hall’s digital front door into a marketing asset that would help generate the income needed to preserve this important community space for future generations.

Wedding content was elevated to position Monikie Memorial Hall as a flexible, characterful alternative to traditional venues, while dedicated content also highlighted its value for community events, performances, exhibitions, fitness classes, markets and local organisations. Alongside a complete copywriting overhaul, we delivered a fully responsive website built on One Digital Nation’s modern hosting platform and integrated Content Management System, giving trustees an easy-to-manage solution that is fast, secure and built for long-term sustainability. The site includes mobile-first optimisation, accessibility improvements, performance optimisation, built-in analytics and SEO foundations, ensuring it is ready to grow alongside the Hall’s ambitions. Most importantly, we shifted the conversation from hiring a village hall to imagining the events, celebrations and memories that could be created there.
